WGA submits bipartisan policy recommendations following Senate hearing on permitting and environmental review

In correspondence with the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, WGA submitted bipartisan policy recommendations following the Committee’s February 19, 2025, hearing, Improving the Federal Environmental Review and Permitting Processes. The letter of February 20, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, reads, “current permitting processes governing land management activities and infrastructure development can negatively affect the pace and scale of critically important projects, such as wildfire mitigation, habitat improvements, energy systems investments, and housing construction. Western Governors urge Congress to consider how to improve and streamline these processes while still providing meaningful opportunities for public input and promoting and a safe and healthy environment.” Read the full correspondence for further details.
